A beach you have to walk to reach.
Some beaches are special precisely because you have to walk a bit to reach them.
Milos Beach on Lefkada is one of those places. The beach is just a few minutes from the small coastal village of Agios Nikitas, yet the atmosphere changes immediately as soon as you leave the last houses behind. The village's narrow streets slowly disappear, the murmur of voices from the tavernas fades, and the narrow path begins to wind its way up the hill.
The path through the small wood

The road to Milos Beach is part of the place itself.
From Agios Nikitas, a narrow path leads up the hillside above the coast. The path is narrow, uneven in places, and crisscrossed with exposed tree roots. Among the dry earth, stones, and old olive trees, one quickly gets the feeling of no longer being in a typical holiday resort, but rather somewhere between coastal scenery and a small wooded area.
A special tranquility pervades this place, especially in the mornings or late afternoons. Sunlight filters through the trees, cicadas chirp, and the intense blue of the Ionian Sea peeks through the branches. The path isn't spectacular in the traditional sense. There's no grand viewing platform, no perfectly manicured promenade. Rather, it's a natural trail, the kind you can still find in many places in Greece.
Perhaps that's exactly what makes the journey to Milos Beach so special.
The first glimpse of the sea

With every step, Agios Nikitas recedes a little further into the distance as the sea draws closer. After the short climb, the landscape suddenly opens up, and behind the hill, the wide beach appears with its bright sand, white rocks, and open water.
Milos Beach feels wilder than many other beaches on Lefkada. There's no dense town center right behind it, no main road, no meticulously planned promenade. Instead, there's plenty of space, wind, waves, and the feeling that the landscape here still has its own rhythm.
Between wind, waves and tranquility
Especially on days with stronger winds, the Ionian Sea reveals its rougher side here. The water shimmers turquoise and deep blue at the same time, while the waves crash against the beach and the white rocks in the background appear almost garish in the sunlight.
Despite its fame, Milos Beach has retained some of its original atmosphere. Perhaps this is because the journey there isn't entirely comfortable. The narrow path over the hill automatically filters out many things. Those who come here usually consciously set aside time for it. And that's often where a large part of the memory lies.
A place that is slowly opening up
Not just on the beach itself, but also on the short walk there. The tree roots beneath your feet, the warm scent of the dry forest, the first glimpse of the sea through the trees, and that small feeling of slowing down for a moment.
Milos Beach is not a place you can just quickly tick off your list. It 's one of those places that reveals itself step by step.
